experiment

So, I'm lucky enough to get to use a Cintiq at work (for those of you who don't know, it's basically a computer monitor you can draw directly on) It gave me the idea of seeing if I can't duplicate pencil and ink drawings. So I tried this... It turned out pretty well, so I tried another one that turned out better. But that one's not done so you get this for now. Anyways, this is my first ever completely digital drawing... I think it looks pretty un-digital, wadda you think?

'nuther one

mmm... 3 weeks eh? Time flies when you're busy. Anyhow, it seems I like to draw Hellboy when I'm at conventions. I did this one at the Calgary con a few weeks ago. So there you go...

I dunno...

... what this is. Just a sketch. Hope you likey.

floating heads...

Has anyone noticed that we all draw an inordinate amount of floating heads? I know... they're just portraits or studies or whatever, but really, they look like floating heads... Anyway, here's one of mine. Well, I drew it. It was inspired while I was watching that Dr.Jekyll movie with Julia Roberts? Mary Kelley I think? Anyway, It started out as John Malkovitch as Mr Hyde, then turned into this. Anyway, yeah. Floating head...

Alberto Ruiz who?...

Yeah, so I drew this after staring at his sketch books awhile... It got me inspired to draw a lady. Usually I go out of my way to NOT try and ape someone elses style, but when I finished this, well, I totally had. Waddyagonnado? Anyways, this is Alberto Ruiz as filtered thru my noggin'. Aboot a million times worse than his stuff, but for a Todd Demong version, not so bad. Anyhow, if you like this at all go check out his stuff. Then you can see how someone who can actually draw does it... anyhow, thanks Alberto!

FCBD

So, here's a page from the new Arcana Presents FCBD... be sure to check it out (I think Free Comic Book Day is one May 5th or something...) at any rate, there's a brand new 100 Girls short story in it. And this page is from it. I thought it turned out okay... yeah...

'nuther quickie

just another quick marker sketch of Dalton (the cowgirl character I done like to drawr...) turned out okay, so there you go...

-T

another strange one...

This one is interesting cause it's actually just a doodle I did a couple years ago, then came across it again just a few weeks ago. I didn't like it at the time of original sketching, but it caught my eye, so I worked it over some more and it came out like this. I kind of like it now...

Titanize!

Well it's almost been a couple weeks so here we are. Anyhow this one is I drew based on some fan mail we received at the show. A young fan took some time to come up with a whole new character so that one of our main characters could have a girlfriend. So cute! She sent in a bunch of stuff telling us about said characters background as well as a number of drawings showing us what she would look like. I thought it was so sweet that she took the time to do this that I took those drawings and "titanized" her character for her, then sent her the original along with a lovely letter. Anyways, this is "Hilary" for Hilary.

sketchy sketch

I did this after reading the outline for the next 100 Girls series... Just a moment from it that inspired me...

-T

not quite within a week...

oh well... Anyhow, this is just a few different colored versions of a sketch I liked. Still playing with the markers...

-T

ooo... new stuff!

Well, I'll try to keep updating this more frequently, at least once a week, but, well, frankly I'm lazy. Anyhow, a little something new. This is a character that is going to play are fairly important role in the next 100 Girls series. He's based on a good friend of mine, Mike Lane, and hopefully he looks somewhat like him too... Mike, if you see this, I hope you're not offended!

-T

filler

just a wee sketch I's did that I liked... Merry Holidays, by the way!

-T

wha?...

Just a strange little sketch I did that I like, so there...

-T

oooo... Spidey...

I did this sketch a while ago, totally forgot about it. So I thought I'd try to polish it up a bit with some new colors. I like the sketch, but the colors... didn't like them last night, tonight I kinda do. So there you go. Hope somebody else does too...

-T

color sketchy fun...

Here's just a quick sketch I did of Sylvia (the main character from 100 Girls).... I guess I'm starting to miss her...

-T

mmmm... monster...

This here's a guy that's going to be in the next series of 100 Girls. He actually came about from a pin-up one of Adam's friends did for us in issue 4 of the first series. We both liked it so much that we wanted to use it in one of the stories. So here's the original pin-up, done by the highly talented Ben Stenbeck as well as my stylized bastardization. Hope you like one or both of 'em!

-T

an oldie...

This here's a design I did for a creature that had a central role in the comic I did called "Hell". Sadly it didn't get used. My writer wanted something more human looking, so I ended up doing a couple other designs and going with something much simpler. Which was fine, but I always liked this one best. It's kinda like a bird bred with an Alien... Anyways, maybe I'll try and use this thing at a later date...

dood...les...

So, I'm not much of a doodler. I really need to know what I'm going to draw before I do; creating a little story in my head even if it's only for one drawing. My buddy Scott Underwood is a fantastic doodler (as well as an all round tremendous artist). He has this ability to kind of start with any line or squiggle and make it into something funny and interesting. So, in honour of Scott, and also to try working some muscles that I never do, I too tried just drawing without thinking. This here's one that I quite liked! Here's to you Diggs!

gotsa get to work!

Man... I gotta get sketchin'... Anyhow, this is just a wee exercise with heavy blacks that turned out okay...
